AJAX DOWNS, AUGUST 6, 2024 – Owner JOHN WILSON of New Liskeard, ON has a pair of aces for the $51,840 PRINCESS DERBY for 3-year-old fillies at Ajax Downs on August 7. Wison’s RBYBYBABY and
Rbybybaby is unbeaten at Ajax Downs since being purchased by Wilson through his trainer Scott Reid for $20,000 from the 2023 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale last year in Oklahoma. A winner once in six races last year, Rbybybaby won the QROOI Derby on May 27 and an allowance race in June. She won her Trial for the Princess Derby despite exchanging hard bumps with rival Lady Alice at the start. Her time was 18.07 for an 87 speed index. Carly Furlonger will ride Rbybybaby in the Derby from post six.
Expedient, who will have Cassandra Jeschke on board, stuck her nose out to win her Trial in a three-horse photo finish. A $24,500 purchase from the same Oklahoma sale last fall, Expediant began her racing career in May at Ajax Downs and she has won two of five races. She raced 350 yards in 18.06 (87 speed index) in her Trial and starts from post position two.
Lady Alice, winner of the Unclassified Stakes in June has post 10 for owner, trainer and breeder James Bogar and jockey Christian Benitez. Lady Alice is one of four Ontario breds who advanced to the final.
First race post time on August 7 is 1:30 p.m.
