Notice to the Industry

AGCO License

It is a requirement of the Quarter Horse Racing Industry Development Program (QHRIDP) that an ownership entity enrolling a horse in the Program or otherwise receiving benefits from the Program must be licensed by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

Formerly, all licenses expired in March of each racing year, resulting in delays in obtaining license renewals. As a result, QHRIDP participants were granted an extension with respect to this requirement.

Recently the AGCO changed its policy such that individual Quarter Horse licences now expire on the licensee’s birth date.  Licenses can be renewed at any time through the AGCO Head Offi

Accordingly, going forward, the QHRIDP will require that any ownership entity enrolling horses in the Program be licensed as at the date of enrollment.  Horses will not be enrolled until the owner holds a current AGCO license.
