AJAX DOWNS, SEPTEMBER 11, 2017 – –From Alberta to Fort Erie to Ajax Downs, jockey Ramiro Castillo is one of Canada’s top horsemen. Castillo, won four races on the seven-race card at Ajax Downs on Monday September 11 to increase his lead as top rider at Canada’s premier Quarter Horse track.
The personable 39-year-old has 31 victories at Ajax to lead a competitive group of riders but his exploits do not stop there. Castillo has also won races recently at Northlands Park in Edmonton and recently rode a Thoroughbred winner for his wife Angelle Carter at Fort Erie racetrack.
And Castillo will be busy in the coming weeks at Ajax Downs as the track offers plenty of stakes action through the final seven Monday cards of racing.
The Sept. 18 card will be jam packed with most of the most Quarter Horses in the province competing in the $70,000 Picov Derby final, the $35,000 All Canadian Classic and trials for the Alex Picov Memorial Futurity.
Also on September 18, fans are invited to sign up for the Online Handicapping Challenge, the Pick 8, for a chance to win cash prizes and earn a spot in the final Handicapping Contest on Oct. 23.
